THE PROBLEM

Highways, water infrastructure, and corridor assets share a common vulnerability — they sit on or near ground that doesn't always behave. Slope movement, settlement, water pressure, and erosion all threaten the asset, and the cost of letting any of those go is higher than the cost of fixing them at the right time.

JDC'S APPROACH

JDC's drilling work in this space spans the obvious infrastructure protection categories. For DOTs: tieback anchor systems and grade beam retention walls (as on Interstate 94 in North Dakota), plus multi-year horizontal drain programs along corridors where slide mitigation is the difference between a corridor that stays open and one that doesn't (as on Highway 20 in Oregon).

For water infrastructure: lake-bottom anchor installation that won AGC Project of the Year recognition in 2010, holding a submerged sewer line in place across two miles of lake bottom. For dam safety work: deep well dewatering networks like the 106-well system furnished and operated across multiple construction seasons for a U.S. Bureau of Reclamation dam safety modification on the Milk River Project in Montana.
